Interesting premise, but I never managed to care much about the characters and the ending wasn't that good.
I don't like the cliche ending where the villain explains their whole plan to the protagonist, and then they suddenly get killed because they weren't paying attention to their surroundings. I also thought the solution to the disease was pretty far-fetched

I wanted to love this book but I found that it didn't quite scratch the itch I was looking for. The book begins well and is attention grabbing, but I still found myself slugging through it. I think that in a few too many instances the line between creeping dread and dragging boredom to be crossed over to the latter. The fodder characters are given little reason to be memorable (pun intended), but I also found it hard to relate to the ones that were given plot armor. The concept in itself is fun and intriguing, but the info dump towards the end made me wish they weren't stuck on a boat the whole time. For claims that the book is great for RE fans, sure? I see it, the overall vibe is there, but it does leave something to be desired.
Cliche and corny, with a very predictable, but fun plot. A fun horror story that doesn't want for you to take it too seriously.

I would not have picked this book up in a shop. I only gave it a go because the point of book clubs is to try and broaden your horizons, but this book is too terrible to persevere with.

It's a difficult premise and one the writer was brave to have a go at. But if you're going to go into a book without being able to built character properly or provide any background you have to do it well. The writing in this book is as subtle as a sledgehammer. I felt I was being bludgeoned to death by hackneyed, predictable, uninspired sentences. Nope.

a little more gory than I would prefer, but I loved the drawn out mystery; this would be a great action movie
