If the book is gonna be a love triangle, at least spend sometime making it seem like the main character likes the one she ends up with.
Danny and JJ had so much chemistry and banter throughout the entire book. Half the book she is falling for him, and then she ends up with Phillip.
It felt like she only wanted to be with Phillip once she couldn’t have Danny anymore. The book would have been so much better if she ended up with Danny instead.

That Boy is a sweet story about a girl who has two best friends, both boys. It goes through her life, as if you're reading her journal, marking pivotal parts in her life.
Here's the problem I found with That Boy, the very first chapter is basically the last chapter. You immediately know the final drama. Now it's just about understanding how you're going to get there. The problem is, I spent the entire book incredible impatient to get there. I kept thinking, "okay yea but what about HIM" and "why doesn't HE seem upset about this?" or "finally HE seems to be showing some signs of jealousy". I didn't feel any of my usual angst when reading, which come to think about it, may be a good thing for me.
It was a great great story, I just wish it hadn't started the way it did. I really liked JJ's spark. Her easy go with the flow attitude. Her tomboy style. The fact that she easily mixed her sexuality with her ability to be one of the guys. She was definitely the kind of girl I'd like to think I was at that age.
Bonus points for all the cute journal drawings. I think I had just as much fun looking at those, as I did reading the book.
