I’m gonna be completely honest. I enjoyed the queen’s resistance, and absolutely DEVOURED it, but I will admit this book felt a little unnecessary for the universe as a whole. It is a great story, if you - like me - love the characters and the world, and as such, I loved this book - even if I liked the first one a little more.

The book is beautifully written, and deals with some harsh themes. I like how the series didn’t just end with the good people winning, but seeing the aftermath play out. I love every single character in the universe, they’re all well rounded, three dimensional and just overall feels like real people.

I’ll definitely come back to this series in the future!

Why did it take me so long to read this one?! The Queen's Rising is one of my favorite books ever and I was worried this one would fall short. I should have known Rebecca Ross wouldn't do that to me. This book was everything I'd hoped for.

I cannot explain how much I loved this series. I got so attached to the characters and I couldn’t wait to just pick it up again and continue. I had school and homework so it took longer than I wanted but nonetheless still enjoyed this book a lot. I recommend this series for everyone just because the way of writing that was used and the plot just made it super interesting.

The Queen’s Resistance starts off where the first book finished with a successful rebellion. Here it follows the precarious way between the overthrowing of the old ruler to securing the throne for the new queen. There’s alliances to form, enemies to deal with and a new rebellion moving in the shadows. Not all the different parts fitted together, and at times the many different plot points just felt oddly squished together. But the world building and writing still ensured that it’s an entertaining story. This book is more romance focused than the first one, and while I wasn’t sold on it I can see how others will swoon over what's essentially a teacher/student romance. The book wraps things up nicely and I didn’t feel that there ever was any threads left loose.
