Another great book!
The coup is over and the families are trying to settle back into life after 25 years of being away.

Pros:
-We get both Brienna’s and Cartier’s POV
-Anything with Cartier. I’m a big fan.
-We see more of why the king is so evil. I feel like this was lacking in book 1, but after hearing some of the things he did here, I was very on board with deposing him.
-The MacQuinns being suspicious of Brienna. Quite a few people complained about how everyone seemed to love Brienna in book 1. That is not the case for book 2.
-Greater depth into the Maeven world and just the actual plot. So much happens in this book!
-The proposal tradition for the McQuinns

Cons:
-Honestly I wanted more Cartier and Brienna scenes. I like that this is a sweet romance story, but I still wanted more of it!
-I don’t like Brienna’s connection to the weaver girl. It was unnecessary.
-I actually didn’t acre for the twist with Aodan/Cartier’s mother. Anything that makes Cartier happy makes me happy, but it was another thing I felt was unnecessary.

It didn’t enthrall me - bit boring at times, but well written and less naive than the first book

Not into the student teacher thing

good wrap up to the first book, left some things to be desired, but over all still a good read.
