Gael & Jordan

This friends-to-lovers story is fucking beautiful!!

I did like this although i did wish it had more to the plot. Everyone seemed to know that they both longed for one another. So all they had to do was just say it, have some courage and tell the other how you feel. I get that's not always easy, but succumbing to a life of misery, while watching the person you love marry someone else seems crazy.

ARC REVIEW:

Ache was beautiful.
Forbidden love, unrequited love, victims of circumstance and mistakes that went unspoken. Ache was sexy and thoughtful and truly lived up to its title. Jordan and Gael did make me ache for them. I was wrapped up in their emotions and wasn’t ready for the twists and turns that awaited me.
What Marley Valentine managed to do with this story after just a few chapters was certifiable.
I thought that we received our big conflict and plot twist right at the beginning of the book.
I was ready for some secret slow burn (if you catch my drift).
BOY WAS I WRONG.
What I got was something entirely different.
And it was excellent.

I loved Gael and Jordan's relationship so much. I loved that they had loved each other for so long, so much so that everyone around them knew it. I loved that they were best friends first. I loved THEM, and I loved them together.

Jordan's love for Gael was absolutely breathtaking.

The years of heartache. The years of separation. I would do it all again, knowing that, in the end, we get to have a lifetime of moments like this.

“You would do that for me?” “I would literally do anything for you.”

You can’t turn the light off and expect to see. You can’t take away the flavor and still expect the food to taste good. You can’t live when you’ve lost purpose. You can’t love when your heart has stopped beating.

But. BUT.
SpoilerI hate cheating. I just wish Gael hadn't cheated on Elena. Clearly, we all could see that they didn't belong together, that Gael wasn't in love with her, and that he was meant to be with Jordan. But fuck I hate cheating. I was relieved to see that Gael really did have serious regrets about it, but I just wish he figured it out before he went to Vegas.

Aside from that, their love story was beautiful, and watching them lose each other and then find their way back to each other broke my heart into a million pieces. It was a stunning representation of true soulmates. Gael's heart and soul told him when his head couldn't.

“For so long”—my voice is hoarse and thick, the words on my tongue waiting a lifetime to come out—“I have learned to love you from afar, and I’m begging you please, please let me love you up close.”

❤️❤️❤️

I actually gave it 3.5 stars. This was an okay book. Nothing that exciting.

I felt the chemistry between the MCs without even having a preview of their teen years.

The cheating trope was written properly in my opinion and I love the side characters.

This book just killed me. My heart hurts and it's also full. I had so many emotions reading this.
Gael and Jordan are life long friends. Jordan is gay and in love with Gael. Meanwhile Gael is engaged to Elena. One trip to Vegas changes so much. For everyone.
This is not an easy read, but any means. Marley Valentine took my heart and just squeezed tight. She shocked me, made me cry, broke me down and put me back together, all in one story.
I can't tell you enough how much I loved this book. I want to say so much, but don't want to spoil anything.  The attention to details, the honesty in the characters feelings, the truth and rawness of their reactions were all written perfectly.
This was a true five star read.
