I'm really waffling on my rating. This was dark and truly this dude is going to kill somebody one day and it might be his wife. I didn't want to finish the book but it was a good story and I needed to know the end. So for that reason I'm giving it 3-stars.
Would not recommend this book to any woman under 40 who could think that this kind of behavior could be something they'd want to seek. But as fiction it was a thrilling read.

This was amazinggggg until the 87% mark and then it got… weird? Almost felt like I was reading a different book. I pretty much lost all interest then but the fact that this had my adhd ass HOOOOOKED for 520 pages is saying something.
Also have to note how strange the side characters or friends felt in this. Like they would be right next to the fmc, mmc would come up and basically choke her on the spot but her friends never said anything?? The author treats it like they just ✨disappear✨ and it happens like EVERY chapter. It’s strange.
Also, Greyson is deranged so be prepared for that but I love me a good crazy guy

I may come back to this later. It feels very inauthentic to me in terms of a bully romance. Greyson hits Violet with his car and ruins her life. When her mother tries to sue in civil court for damages, something happens that leads to an NDA and Greyson isn’t sure why that happened. However, he bullies her because he feels slighted by Violet.
The bullying doesn’t feel realistic to me and Violet has no fire. She seems very depressed and just accepts everything Greyson does to her (including SA). By 28%, Greyson is already obsessive/possessive of her and again, Violet just accepts it. Oh, and there is also someone stalking Violet who may or may not have nefarious intentions?
For a 600 page book, I’m going to stop here and maybe circle back later.

So, so good! My first book by S. Massery and I’m a huge fan. Excellent writing. Loved the darkness and all the scenes. Can’t wait for Steele’s story next.

This was my first “Hockey Romance” but I enjoyed it. It was very dark at first, so you for sure need to look at trigger warnings. I enjoyed the twists in the book but I did feel like it was trying to do too much. We didn’t need that level of trauma for our MC for the story to work. Still, it was an enjoyable ride and I always appreciate an actual story line in a romance novel.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrators did a good job. READ TRIGGER WARNING. I am good with dark bully romances but I prefer a more alpha protective hero and a stronger heroine not ones that make all the wrong decisions.
This was my first book by this author but I will try another one.
