I wasn’t sure about this book at the beginning, gave me some significant anger issues… but then!! I couldn’t stop reading! The plot plotted and the spice was SPICY. Solid first read by this author.
poorly written storyline
This was not a well-written book. It was immature and so unrealistic that it was borderline cringey. It’s not hard to write erotic scenes in a book and that’s about all it has going for it.

This was my first S. Massery book, and it did not disappoint! It is the first in the Hockey Gods series, but it can be read as a standalone.
Greyson Devereux is the left wing on the Crown Point University’s hockey team, and he is one of the best. He’d recently transferred because an accident he caused ruined his image. Not that he had a very good one to begin with, but he is supposed to maintain one, especially with the way his father is. He has a LOT of anger and he’s really just not a good guy.
Violet Reece is a ballerina, and she’s one of the best. One night, everything changes for her when she gets in an accident. Or rather, a car crashes into hers, leaving her with a broken leg.
Greyson is the one who hit her, and he tried to cover it up and blame it on the girl he was with. But he can’t get away that easily. And to cover it up, his father threatens Violet into signing an NDA.
Now, Greyson and Violet are at the same school. Greyson is basically living life, continuing to play hockey and hope to make it into the NHL, but Violet still can’t dance. When they see each other, memories of that night come back to haunt both of them. Greyson fears that Violet will expose him and he’s angry that she’s there, and Violet is angry that Greyson’s life has hardly changed.
Greyson just wants to scare Violet and ensure she stays silent, yet he ends up becoming obsessed with her. He bullies her, but he’s very protective over her as well.
Violet really went through a lot. She was being harassed by someone, and she assumed it was Greyson. But it wasn’t him. It was her piece of sh*t ex, and someone else that she was supposed to be able to trust. Actually, that person was the whole reason Violet was where she was the night her life changed.
Anyway, Greyson. Damn. Sure, he was cruel to Violet, but she wasn’t afraid of him. In fact, she matched his sadistic tendencies, craved them even. These two were so toxic, but they were perfect for each other. I loved their story and will definitely be reading the next book.

This was my first S Massery book and holy heck am I in love. The obsession and the hatred and the love all in one. What a freaking rollercoaster of emotions, and I loved every second of it.
Very similar to D.O, but less likeable main characters and lots of build up to anticlimactic action. Ballerina and hockey player.
Talk about a bully romance. Greyson & Violet have a morally grey sometimes very black romance and I was here for it. This is a revenge story with plot twists that kept me captivated until the end. The dual performances by Teddy Hamilton & Heather Firth were amazing. Greyson is not an MMC who anyone should fall for but I absolutely did. And Violet was an FMC I didn't quite understand at first but as more of her story was revealed, her choices and feelings made so much sense.

As soon as I found out this was a dark hockey romance, I was sold! I loved Greyson and his obsession with hating Violet.
Great read.
Oh, I loved this book so much, Grayson and Violet were just incendiary together! I just adored how quickly Grayson got hooked on Violet and was there to support and protect her, and the way Violet accepted her own darkness was just so hot. Loved them so much and am looking forward to reading more from this series.
