Great book. I was surprised at how well written and researched it was.
A very interesting history ruined by the right-wing war-mongering perspective. The problem with reading ebooks is that you don't realize the author is a Fox News commentator.
Entertaining and motivating vignette about the early history of the United Sates with a focus on the exploits of the young U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. The author tells the story with appropriate detail to keep the book moving at a brisk pace. Great read.
Not what I expected, I should have researched the author before reading. Poorly written and full of Islamophobia
Very interesting history of the beginning of the United States Navy. I learned a lot of the war with the Tripoli pirates.
It is an interesting chapter of US history that inspired the song of the Marines "from the shores of Tripoli". But I had a hard time getting through it. In describing what happened, you dont really get a sense for why it matters or a broader sense of context outside of what was happening there.
