My church (Episcopal) says we read the Bible every three years. But we don't. We read portions. This past year I joined Traci Rhodes's online chronological bible group and read the whole thing. I loved the experience. How do you get through the "boring parts?" And the difficult parts that we seldom read in church? What does the Bible look like if we think of its being on a timeline? We focused on language, history, and what we connected with. My rating is not for the Bible, but the translation. I didn't love the NLT because it's not poetic. The Psalms read flat. BUT there's a clarity here that is helpful especially with regards to Judaism in the New Testament and it provoked many conversations I had with my Jewish family and loved ones.

Excellent

Reading the Bible in chronological order was extremely helpful and enlightening. I recommend this Bible particularly for those who are unsure about the flow of the Old Testament story.

I have followed this daily since 2013. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking to read the Bible daily, or who wants to read the Bible within a year, or who wants a fresh way to read the Bible as chronological events.

It's no easy thing to read the Bible in its entirety. It's even harder (and not recommended) to do it without any study notes at hand, which can be potentially dangerous, and believe me I struggled a lot with this at times! Something to rectify in the new year perhaps. Chronologically though is a fascinating way to read it, especially with the likes of the Psalms in the context of the books of Samuel, and the writings of the prophets in the time of the exile.
