(Part II) Whatever this mess of allusory vignettes might once have held is veiled by stilted, awkward poetry, but “story” and “character” can’t have existed in the first place: this time, translation and weakness of reading a play script by oneself aside, the literature fails to make an impact. A few compelling images here and there can’t make up for the script’s leaps of time, place, subject, and allusion. Riddled with nonsensical scenes (don’t @ me, I’m sure a student with a fine-tip pen could make sense of them) and poorly translated to boot.

Nahhhh I'm not a classic books person and school still forces us to read books like this...

It wasn't the worst, but it differently wasn't the best.
challenging slow-paced

I had a ten-week class on Faust. I love it, and after spending so much time on it it kind of means a lot to me.

I listed it under surreal/bizarre entirely because of Part II-- which I ended up enjoying, but what the hell. What the hell.

Will have to re read outside of school to genuinely enjoy it ^^
