I liked this book. It was a little slow in the beginning but once I got to know the characters it was more entertaining.
This book had some good moments and great laughs! The character development was nice but I was not crazy with the ending which left me wanting more detail to finish out the story.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book and did not expect to finish it this quickly!
i loved everything about this book. It was funny, endearing, heartwarming, suspenseful and insightful. Don as a character was created so well - sympathetic but not pathetic or pitiful. Really enjoyed this book and was so excited to hear there's a sequel!
"Do you smoke?"
"Occasionally," she said.
I put the questionnaire away.
"Excellent." I was pleased that my question sequencing was working so well. We could have wasted time talking about ice-cream flavors and makeup only to find that she smoked. Needless to say, smoking was not negotiable. "No more questions. What would you like to discuss?"
Disappointingly, Frances was not interested in further conversation after I had determined that we were not compatible. This turned out to be the pattern for the remainder of the event.
Don Tillman, perhaps an undiagnosed adult with Asperger syndrome, is our narrator and unwitting main event ringleader. Don takes us through episodes in his life that begin when he decides he needs a scientific and systematic approach to finding the perfect partner.
Filled with incredibly hilarious dry humor and situational comedy, I laughed out loud at so many parts of this book. I know quite a few people who struggle with social situations and are apparently "wired" differently and often misinterpret or misread what others would consider to be normal social cues, but I don't think that's necessary to be able to enjoy and cherish this book. After all, aren't we all weirdos in some way to each other; isn't it our uniqueness that makes us special and who we are as individuals and as members of the larger human race?
I loved this book from cover to cover, and I cannot wait to read its sequel. It was just so enjoyable and so filled with love and life and a vibrancy that I treasure finding in books.

Super cute, light hearted book. Totally pictured Sheldon Cooper the whole time!
My 9 year old son has Asperger's, so I was interested in reading a book from the POV of an adult with Asperger's. Overall I enjoyed it although I feel like Don's character was more of a caricature of an Aspie. Sheldon Cooper is hilarious, but he is an extreme..all Aspies have similar traits but they are individuals and don't all fall into the same stereotypes. My son has a hard time understanding social nuances and situations that most of us find easy, but as he gets older he's learning what is expected of him in those situations. I find it hard to believe that Don is nearly 40 years old and hasn't picked up on a few things.
It was a quick, fun read and I found myself laughing out loud several times. I was afraid that Don was going to end up trying to change who he is in order for Rosie to love him so it was nice to see that in the end he was accepted for his differences anyway.

Fun "beach read" while I am sick. a geneticist is looking for a suitable partner. Meets a wildly "unsuitable" woman, who teaches him how to live a different life. Moves along quickly and is silly but fun.
