Charming love story from male lead w/ Aspergers perspective.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable bit of reading fluff. I don't read 'chick-lit' but thought I'd give this a whirl as it has a lead character with Aspergers and is written by a man. It wasn't as laugh out loud funny as I was expecting but I did find myself chuckling away to myself in several places. I will read the follow up though I've read that it isn't as good.
Ihan viihdyttävä kirja, johon menetin mielenkiintoni loppua kohden. Herää kysymys, että mitä mieltä autismin kirjon ihmiset tästä ovat. Ainakin yhden löytämäni arvion mukaan tämä on erittäin huono kuvaus Aspergerin oireyhtymästä.
what a wonderful story. thoroughly enjoyable read that I didn't want to put down!
This was a fun read; I've read other reviews suggesting that it mocks those with Asperger's, which I think is incorrect and unfair. If I provide my honest thoughts on that topic without getting into all the context of why I can make such statements (none of us has the time for that), I'd be branded as insensitive, and I just don't have it in me to try to justify myself. Harumph.
Having enjoyed the book, I must say that I'm not yet moved by the prospect of reading the other two books in the series. Maybe one day, but let me enjoy the afterglow of this meal before ordering the next one.

4.5 stars
4 stars for the plot (I wasn't completely sold on wacky stuff they do for The Father Project) and 5 stars for Don Tillman.
This book hooked me from the very beginning, and I could hardly stand to put it down (damn you, work & sleep!) I loved Don and being inside his head; I think the fact that the story is told from his POV, in 1st person, is what made this great. From any other perspective, Don would have simply seemed quirky and socially awkward, but from his perspective and following his thought-process, all his so-called "weirdness" made sense. In fact, it sometimes took a minute of processing or a mention of it in the book to notice that some of his actions weren't what the average person would do. And I didn't really think too much about the way Gene was acting because Don didn't think too much about it, until later in the book. I think this was a testament to how well-written and immersive this book was. I can't wait to read the sequel! (which, luckily, I bought at the same time as this one
