Who is Leni and what is Leni doing at the beginning of the story? Who are Nan and Griffin? What do we learn about all of them? Who are Shelby and Jack? How are they known to the others if at all? Watching as the story pops back and forth between the past and the present was interesting! It was funny in many places. I could totally envision everything that was happening. This was such a cute read! Definitely not a book to be missed. Some really tough subjects come up, but this book is worth it!

Oh my goodness, what isn't to love about this book? Best friends since childhood, both Griffin and Leni love what they have. But do they also want something more?
It's hard not to want a happy ending for this two. Griffin is the hunky firefighter who looks out for his best friend, taking care of both her and her grandma while also keeping Leni in check, not letting her fall into her love of books.
Leni is the hot librarian next door, who loves books, but does she love Griffen more? Leni has a major thing for her best friend but she doesn't want to put their friendship in jeopardy for something that might not last. She loves what they have and in perfectly content in sticking with what's safe, not wanting to jump off the ledge.
Honestly, I wanted to be Leni when I grew up. Living in a small town with her grandma, the town librarian, flouncing around in sweet little dresses with a very hunky best friend right next door. What's not to like? This was my first introduction into Miranda Elaine and I loved what I read. It starts off a little slow but by the end I was totally invested in these two. This is definitely a sweet read if you're planning a road trip and need something to take your mind off being scrunched into a vehicle for a few hours.

This was a fun, friends to lovers romantic comedy that had all the feel good vibes. When Griffin's mom makes him take Leni under his wing when they are kids, he is not at all happy, but as time passes, they become inseparable, with Griffin even buying the house next door when his parents move to Florida. And all because he loves Leni. But Griffin won't act on these feelings because he doesn't want to ruin their friendship and he would rather have Leni in his life as a friend than lose her forever. When Leni's grandmother is taken ill, she can't bear to go inside her house, so Griffin offers to let her stay next door with him. As emotions overtake her, Leni realizes that she does love Griffin and on impulse kisses him and then tries to run, but Griffin won't let her. Leni feels that everyone she loves gets taken away from her, so when Griffin is injured in the line of duty, Leni can no longer believe in them and needs to withdraw and fix herself before she can fix her relationship. Well worth reading.
Nothing better than the nerdy librarian finding love in the arms of the hunky fireman - unless - the two have been best friends and fighting attraction from the first time they met. Griffin has always had feelings for the girl who lived next door, but Leni had placed him firmly in the best friend zone. For years he fought his feeling, but with one kiss the world tilted on it's axis. Can you really fall in love with your best friend? Are they willing to put their friendship to the test when the end result might be they lose it all? With beautifully written characters, Miranda Elaine tells the heart warming tale of an honest and true connection. Numerous times throughout the book I found myself sighing with happiness. The emotional connection just leapt off the pages. A wonderful friends to lovers romance.

Griffin and Leni were fabulous
Griffin and Leni were fabulous
Leni and Griffin are the epitome of friends to lovers. At first when they were young griffin felt like she was a burden to be around and wasn’t fond of having to hangout with her at every moment. Then after seeing how Leni was suffering after losing her mother, he made an effort to be there for her and then they instantly clicked. As being best friends for so long they know every little thing bout each other and do almost everything together. What is hidden behind lingering stares and not wanting to be without the other is a tension that is so tangible, but they are both terrified to mess up their friendship. Leni is a shy person always wanting to stay in and read her books or chill with Griffin. She has always had feelings for her friend but always scared of losing those close to her she keeps them hidden. An incident leads them to become more reliable on each other and while they are doing so Griffin keeps finding it hard to keep his feelings hidden any more. From the start you know they belong together and as a reader you keep rooting for them but Leni’s anxiety about losing all those around she loves is always in her mind and she finds it hard to live her life. Can they find a way to take their friendship to the next level without losing each other or will Leni’s fears drive a wedge that ends years of love and friendship? I loved Griffin so much he was such a loving man with a heart of gold. Leni’s Nan was amazing and always made me laugh, but towards the end there were a few minutes when I wanted to shake some since into Leni just like her Nan tried to be blunt with her nonsense. Such a sweet and lovable read that I enjoyed very much and would love to see the side characters get a story because I can tell there is so much more to them.
I adored this book. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and this was so well done. It was a slow burn but that made it all the sweeter. I definitely recommend this one!
Super cute. Childhood best friends. Like seriously loved it. Plus hot firefighter and a librarian. And a grandmother that for real had me in stitches with laughter such a hoot! This was my first book by this author and it definitely wont be the last! Can't wait to enjoy more!
This was my first book by this author, so I didn‘t know what to expect. But it did not disappoint. I fell in love with the cover first but during this read I fell in love with the characters too. Especially Griffin! He‘s the perfect guy for Leni and the perfect bookboyfriend - Which Leni also confirmed.
I loved those little flashbacks to their childhood but their present is what matters. Leni is a bookworm through and through! She‘s been reading almost her whole life as an escape from her mothers illness.
Griffin is a rulefollower and the most helpful person ever. He‘s always been like that so it‘s natural for him to be a firefighter like his father.
Both characters have feelings for eachother since forever but are to afraid to admit it for different reasons.
This story is very cute. It was a perfect read for me and helped me through a possible bookslump.

This book was so swoon worthy! It’s been on my radar forever but I kept getting sidetracked from it.
From forced neighbors and friends at nine to best friends to forever. What an amazing trajectory they went through to get to their forever.
It was quite fun to see super shy Leni make the first move on Griffin at Parker’s insistence! He was so shocked he couldn’t move for a second and she took that as rejection. He showed her fast how very wrong that was lol
It was nice to see that little bit from Shane and see the brothers reconnect. It would be fun for him to get a book—will have to peruse the rest of the series as I can tell this world is going to be fun.
Her grandma is an absolute hoot of a women too! Makes me miss mine even more! ❤️❤️
