It was a slow start, but it ended up being a very beautiful book.

Freaking loved the blasphemous undertones.

This is one of the best books I’ve read in awhile. Slow paced but held on to me all the way through.

I wasn’t really in the story until the last 120 pages. and then suddenly I couldn’t put it down

This was a book of slow rewards, and then an amazing gift at the end. At first I wondered why I was reading, and by the end it made me weep. It is a quiet read... do not read this (nor rate it?) if you expect quick delights. However the grittiness and commitment of the main character was impressive, and to me it was just the right length. Donoghue is so good, she almost had me believing in miracles.

Maybe a 3.5. I enjoyed “Room” much more and thought this one moved a bit slow. Enjoyed the heavy Irish and Catholic influence of the story line.
