I am so happy to see Drew and Bel back in The Wild Flower! Their relationship is so hot!
After The Wallflower, I couldn’t wait to see how Bel would get revenge. I LOVE Bel. The book started great however started to get quite predictable and had to push myself to finish towards the end.
I’m not joking when I tell you guys I devoured this book in less a day. I couldn’t put it down unless I really needed to.

Where do I begin with this book? I somehow liked it even less than book 1. The plot was all over the place. It was honestly like a bad soap opera and it left me so confused.
**Spoilers Ahead**
First, it's thought that Lyle, Drew's dad, is Maybel's birth dad, making them half-siblings. Yet, they still have romantic dalliances for 50% of the book. No, thank you. It only gets cleared up that Drew is actually adopted, so we still think Maybel is Lyle's daughter. What is the significance of that? There isn't one, because it turns out Lyle is Sebastian's father and we have no idea who Maybel's father is. Ok. Sure.
Later, we find out that Maybel's mom was poisoned by Lyle years ago and that's why she was sick. Why? That's not revealed either. We assume it's because he was supposed to marry Maybel's mom, who was an Arturo and would have made Lyle rich?
Maybel as a character is completely annoying and a contradiction. She spends book 1 being poor but yet she has perfect teeth? Sure. Also, at the beginning of book 2, she hates all the wealth of the Arturo family and wants nothing to do with it, but like 2 months later she's flitting around saying she has to represent her family? A family she knows nothing about aside from her half-brother.
I'd like to say the spice saved this book, but it didn't. It was unintentionally cringey. First, there is the back-door play with zero preparation when they're out in the woods, and she walks it off like nothing. Next is the weird things he commands her to do, like riding his shoe? BARE?! Talk about chafing and infection.
Overall, it was entertaining, but it really isn't my cup of tea.

Please read Wallflower first!!
Thank you to J. L. Beck and Literary Yours PR for the ARC!
I thought Wallflower was dark, deranged, and had me questioning my morals (it still does). But Wildflower kicks it up even more! Drew is even more dark and twisted, and Maybel is not the innocent girl she once was. They’re still obsessed with one another even when they shouldn’t be. But the closure they get towards the end, oh it was so long awaited! And let’s not forget about the spice!! Beck knows how to write spice!
Please check your trigger warnings!

I’m SHOOK from the plot twist. This book was soooo good and I seriously was on the edge of me seat finishing it.

I'm unsure why I keep putting myself through this.
I vaguely remember reading the first book The Wallflower last month. I remember it ended on a cliffhanger and the second books audiobook wasn't out yet. Soooooo I stumbled upon the audiobook on Everand yesterday and was like "What the heck, why not." But I should have known better.
I've read this story in a different font and author numerous times before. So nothing original happening here. Same story: yo daddy isn't yo daddy...he's her daddy. Oh and your mom...not really your mom...SURPRISE YOU'RE ADOPTED! *Yawn*
CAN WE PLEASE GET A FMC THAT ISN'T SO STUPID?! J.L. Beck doesn't feel like a girls girl with the way she writes her FMC's. She (the FMC whose name I already forgot) is supposedly smart and shy but....she didn't make a single smart decision in this book!
You're probably thinking..."Well Tristen, why did you give this 2 stars instead of one?" And you have every right to question me. Because I am asking myself the same question. The story was just interesting enough that I didn't DNF so that deserves 2 stars.
I'm exhausted reading the same dumb books. *le sigh*

So many twists
I have been waiting for so many answers since the first book and this just gave me so many and more! The twists and turns legit kept me on the edge of my seat! I was not mentally prepared for how it all went down but that ending!!!! I will say I was not ready to forgive Drew but he still won me back over. Everything that Bel went thru was intense though. I cannot wait to read Sebastians story and I am sure it’s probably going to really put me into a spiral.

Hello new favorite series. Jl Beck has sucked me into the "Oakmount Elite" world, and I don't think I'll ever want to leave. It's quite obvious if you read my review for The Wallflower, how much I loved that book, I binged that book in about 2 days or, so which is great for me, these days. The cliffhanger that Jl left us on, had me shook... and anxiously waiting for book 2... like I was a fiend, and needed my Drew and Bel fix STAT!!!
Book two puts most of the missing pieces together along the way, When the author says there are some things, we won't get answers to until Sebastians book... that because there were so questions that were created that only Seb can answer but know Bel and Drews love story is finished by the end of The Wildflower. This story is filled with some of the best grovel, and I ate that up... breakfast, lunch and Dinner... Drew's growth from book one to book 2 is exceptional... the author handled it so well, and made us feel so deeply for this man, who let's be real, makes some questionable OTT choices, and will harm anyone who hurts the women he loves. I think what sometimes, these stalkerish over the top men lack, is heart, where there is more depth to them, and something for readers to grab onto, and that is totally something Jl Beck gives us with Drew, you just want to hug this broken boy.
I also loved, that not only did Drew show growth Bel herself did too, Shes not a doormat and she really comes into her own in this book. She sure makes Drew fight for her, and yes, he would go to the ends of the earth for Bel... to make things right. This is a story of revenge, mystery, found family dynamics... as well as twists that you won't see coming. The eerily beautiful, sometimes dark world that the author created... will forever stand out to me... the upper crest vibes and these bad boys that only "the one" can bring them to their knee's is so captivating, I'm eagerly waiting for Sebastians book now. 5 OUT OF 5 STARS FOR THIS BABY!
