As STEM girlie, I really enjoyed how the book was written as observations entries. It really gave an academic fell to it and helped solidify the fact that Emily (the FMC) is in fact a scholar. I did get some neurodivergent codes throughout the book which added to the character's complexity. They often had a hard time understanding people but was very in tune to how her subjects (faeries) interacted and behaved.

I always have a hard time getting into MMC that are spoiled and ultimately useless until later on the book but Bambleby really grew on me with time. Really showing and support Emily in her research when things got more serious. I also enjoyed how he admired and loved Emily for her intensity and intelligence. I'm a sucker for when the FMC are loved for just being who they are at the core.

Easy to like characters, especially Shadow the dog! I would’ve said 3 stars but loved the added layer of complexity of the folktale at the end.

Really good story! I loved Emily and Wendell and their dynamic, and I TRULY loved all of the lore. I really enjoyed the clinical and academic voice that was used throughout as we read Em's journal entries.
