So much potential that just didn't deliver. Great premise, but the plot doesn't unfold well as written.
The writing is very amateur, with misused words and poorly-constructed sentences that don't flow. The premise was interesting, which is why I picked it up, but the execution is kind of terrible. The mmc is just a shallow collection of hot-guy cliches and steamy/flirty one-liners in a trench coat. The fmc has no thoughts in her head except how hot everyone is. The relationships are forced and have no depth, no chemistry, no nuance.

This book had everything I love to see in a dark fantasy and more!
The beautiful cover instantly grabben my attention but the stunning character art on the authors page convinced me to pick up her book immediately.
Von was the perfect broody and mysterious morally grey MMC. He was obviously dark, tall and handsome but I loved to see how obsessed he was with his woman. His internal struggles to give Sage time only added to the tension!

Sage didn't make it easy for him to win her over. She was such a strong, intelligent and stubborn FMC. I absolutely love badass women and she definitely knew how to fight for herself.
"I tipped my head to the starlit sky, cursing it for twinkling on a night such as this and I let out a guttural roar."
The mystery behind Von and the constant teasing from his side only added to the tension between them.
I don't want to spoil anything so I won't talk more about their relationship.
"Since the dawn of time, I have spent millennia searching for an answer to the empty void inside. And now, at last, I have it. How fitting that she should be the very thing that could kill me."
The story was fast paced with a well developed but easy to understand magic system. The plot flowed effortlessly with unexpected twists and shocking betrayals!
The book ends on a cliffhanger and I'm so glad I already have the second book at home and can dive right into it!
