Perfect book to get me out of my reading slump. Reminds me of TOG, but shorter. On to book 2

DNF. Took me 2 weeks to get through 40%. The writing was up and down. The author seemed to have a lot of difficulty balancing the fantasy, romance and humor. It was too much to take on. Witty banter that may have lent itself to the romance, fell flat. The female protagonist was one dimensional; no depth. The male protagonist, of what I briefly read, seemed shallow.

Unlikely that I’ll read any of her other fantasy.

I’m officially a fan of Danielle L. Jensen. A fate inked in blood is the beginning of the saga of Feyra and Bjorn. While the ending felt a little rushed due to the lies Bjorn told Feyra a lot comes out in the very end. Full of battle scenes and a slow burning love story this has it all. The other part of the story that really made me think is that anyone can be used as a weapon and that we must protect our autonomy when those that seek power try to overtake us.

4 Stars – A Bold and Engaging Fantasy
A Fate Inked in Blood is a gripping Norse-inspired fantasy filled with action, intrigue, and a strong heroine at the center of it all. Danielle L. Jensen creates a vivid world of gods, destiny, and betrayal that immediately hooked me. The mythology woven into the story added depth, and I really enjoyed how the main character fought to shape her own path despite the forces working against her.
The pacing kept me turning pages, and the romance was an exciting layer without taking over the story. At times, the plot felt a little familiar in its tropes, but Jensen’s sharp writing and immersive world-building gave it freshness.
Overall, this was a thrilling start to a new series that blends love, power, and fate in a way that kept me fully invested. I’ll definitely be picking up the next book.

I really wanted to like this so much, I love anything Viking/Norse based but this was just not it. The story was ok but became very predictable and the characters were just not for me. Will not be reading the second book.

The plot had great promise but unfortunately the execution of said plot was mid at best. The research done into Iron Age vikings was minimal. There were a few inaccuracies that just felt lazy to me. The MC is repetitive and has very little character development as she just goes round in circles in her head the entire book. When will we get a Romantasy with a female MC that has a fully developed brain?
