This book speaks to the long suffering creative psyche. The one who needs reminders to return to themselves and nourish the soft places and let them bloom. It was a balm to my soul . Dr Estes is a skillful storyteller teller who fills the reader with warmth and an understanding of the world and women’s power within it.

DID NOT FINISH

Great work but it was very effortful to read this. It is a PhD thesis afterall and felt very lengthy and it is information packed- will pick it up later in the future.

I didn't need to read this in order to know how I should act as a woman, what I should expect from my life and from others, or how to embrace my creative and free self. There was so much repetition and her entire bit veered on fictitious. Her personal analyses of the myths and stories she mentions are, in my opinion, paper-thin. Even so, cheers to folks that have been able to heal and understand themselves better thanks to this book.
