Maybe it’s not fair, but I found out who she ends up with and have decided to cut my losses early.

About halfway through I realized who this "accomplice" was, when they mentioned 6 centuries. Why else introduce Edana for no apparent reason and mention how long she was trapped in the Dance? I love it when I'm right.

Another fun read! The mystery in this one was really bizarre! I definitely didn't see it coming! I'm not a huge fan of love triangles. I don't quite get how not being able to choose between two guys is a popular motif. But it doesn't seem like she's stringing the two along... or at least, the men are stringing her along as well, so it looks like it's a mutually effed up situation. Still, Alex is no "Damsel in distress" running off to the closest man to get her out of trouble. She's a strong, female (bad-ass) lead, and I was once again way more interested in the mystery and the chaos of the situations she landed herself in the middle of. Another fun read.

I loved this series and I'm glad it's not over yet! It was something new and quirky and I had to read it in one setting.

Good read! A bit slow at parts but the last 100 pages made-up for it. I will definitely read the next book! I liked all the characters!

Loved this! And that's saying a ton considering that, lately, for me to enjoy something, it has to have a heavy romance plotline.

The worldbuilding in this book is phenomenal. I don't remember being so impressed on the first book. I had to go back and look up my review for it, but uh, apparently, I didn't review it on Goodreads? I'm pretty sure I was reviewing books here back in 2010. I have no clue how I skipped reviewing this. My memory is that I liked it a lot.

Anyway, as I said, I loved this. I love Alex Craft. She has the coolest magical powers, and the handicap of going blind afterwards is really cool.

But lets talk about the guys. Death and Falin. I DO remember my impressions of Falin. I remember not liking him, and being a little tiny bit confused as to whether he was going to be a love interest at the beginning of book one. I don't *think* I ever grew to like him, but when I started reading GRAVE DANCE, I couldn't wait for him to get into the book. Once he did, I think those same I-don't-like-this-guy feelings came back. Am I the only one who isn't into him? Or, I should say, I *wasn't* into him. Now that I know more about his story and background, I'm kind of loving his character.

The PROBLEM, though, is that Falin is competing with Death. Death in blue jeans. Death who pretty much is forbidden to be with Alex, but who flirts and steals kisses and who's so cryptic. I mean, Falin really doesn't stand a chance against that, right?

Oh, and I almost forgot. I thought I called who the bad guy was from the beginning. The author did a great job of planting those seeds, and then even had Alex FINALLY jump to the same conclusion I did, so when it turned out that wasn't the case. I was happy. If my suspect had been the bad guy, it would have been way too predictable.

So, yeah, I thoroughly recommend this series! Very unique and entertaining. And I want more Death!

Alex Craft always manages to find herself smack dab in the middle of trouble. Book 2 is full of the insanity that is that Fae and their politics. It makes for some serious confusion, but I feel like it was handled well. Also confusing is the descriptions of the Aetheric and how it woks. I'm still confused at times. The story kept pace decently, but had some lulls. I appreciate that Alex is one of the smarter heroines that I've come across in recent years and isn't as impulsive as some. She does her research and works on a case to figure it out. I also love that she shows humanity. She's constantly worried about her friends and dog and isn't self centered, but she's also rational and can focus in a stressful situation.
Now the one thing that I can't wrap my head around is Alex's infatuation with Death. I can kind of understand it because she's had a crush on him since she was a kid and that's kind of grown up with her, but what does she know about him? Nothing! Not even his real name, if he even has one. He's creeping on someone he's been following around since SHE was a child. He randomly flits in and out of her life expecting to be able to dictate what she should or shouldn't do under the guise of "he cares" but offers little to no explanations. I know he told her that he can't tell her things, but he doesn't even seem to be making any effort to tell her what he can. I feel like even a simple conversation of 5 yes or no questions would help explain.
And on the other hand we have Falin. A huge jackass, works for the literal Ice Queen, and at times is just a vague as Death. I give him some credit for actually explaining things to Alex and offering insights to his previous choices and where they've led him in his life, but he's still not much better for her. I really despise that all stories with a twinge of romance are subjected to a love triangle with a pissing contest between the rivals, but drama sells I guess. I would love to see her break the "triangle" and just find someone who is actually good for her with no strings attached to prior commitment.
I still like the series and am re-reading it anxiously waiting the finale in book 6.
