The next installment of the Puckboys series is live! This one features Aryi Quinn, a younger, less established member of the Queer Collective. A groin injury forces him into regular, rather close contact with the guy he's seriously crushing on - one of his team's athletic trainers, Vance.

This was a really quick read for me with lots of laugh out loud moments, lots of great banter, and very little angst - basically exactly what I have come to expect from the Puckboys series. Where this was deviated a little though is that it's a bit slower of a burn than some of the others, and therefore a tad less spicy (no worries if steam is your thing - it's still an Eden/Saxon book, so it's not lacking on steamy bits.) I appreciated the slow burn here because I feel like I got to know the characters a little better. There is also a good bit of pining due to the slower relationship, and I am always here for that.

I especially enjoyed Quinn. He's a bit of a contradiction - big bad hockey player on the ice, awkward innocent insecure and easily embarrassed off the ice. He was just too cute and 100% the kind of character I can get invested in. Vance is a great book boyfriend - sweet, swoony, and unfailingly supportive.

If you're a fan of the CU Hockey series, you'll love how much of a role Asher Dalton plays in this book. We actually see a fair bit of the several of the Collective members in this book, and they definitely bring the humor and crazy (looking at you, Ezra).

What takes this down a notch for me (and I can't believe I'm actually saying this) is the lack of any real angst or conflict. If you've followed my reviews at all, you know I'm definitely a low-angst girly, but I need a little SOMETHING to keep me emotionally invested. I feel like that was lacking in this book. Because there wasn't any real conflict happening (beyond the initial slow-burn of "we like each other but can't do anything because it could jeopardize our jobs" bit), I wasn't really feeling the Quinn and Vance's connection beyond a physical attraction. We saw evidence of it, but I wasn't feeling the build up. Even though I read through the book very quickly, it felt slower than I'm used to with these authors, again, due to the lack of ANY conflict or angst.

This wasn't "bad", just not a standout for me.

I feel like I need to give this a second chance outside of audio - the voice actors were awesome but I just was bored with the plot and kept losing focus which is a me problem CLEARLY!

Ugh, 2 cinnamon roll boys? Yes freaking please!

I am always a fan of what comes out of the Saden-verse and this was no exception. Funny, heart-warming and just a little bit filthy, what more can you want from the queer collective?

Cannot wait for the next one!

This was a fun enjoyable book. Always enjoy this series universe. Very light, sweet, low angst and funny. At time the humor was a bit too over the top for me but maybe that’s because I’m not 24 like the characters lol. Not my fave in the series but still really liked it

4/5 i adoreddd how awkward quinn was. unlike some of the other books in the series, i thought the book actually got better near the end as their relationship and dynamic evolved. plus, having the playoffs as the final conflict rather than a typical third act breakup was so good

Clueless Puckboy by Eden Finley & Saxon James

3.5⭐️ This series and cast are just so dang cute

Quinn & Vance
These two have such a fun relationship. There's silly tension, and a lot of awkwardness, but it's all so entertaining and sweet! Yes, their interactions are very spicy once they get together, but it's clear from the get-go that both men are incredibly thoughtful and generous with their time and feelings for one another, even if they don't admit it for some time. I love how supportive Vance is of Quinn having his friends in the collective. While they're a crazy, rowdy bunch (see Ezra), they truly do support one another more than you might think, even those that have retired from their shared sport.

I don't know what we all did to deserve the Puckboys in the Sadenverse, but I love them all so much, and they are so easy to read again and again.

Audiobook Update:
Iggy Toma & Alexander Cendese
The subtleties with these guys is so perfect for the Queer Collective and their shenanigans. There's never a dull moment in the story, and these two narrators don't let anything in the vibe fall through the cracks. Each moment is perfect, hilarious, and incredible fun!

2.5-3 Stars

I didn’t care about these characters at all. This was a real low point for the series. I can see what I stopped reading this before because this was a real slog to get through in the last half.
