I was definitely unsure about this book the first few chapters, but the characters quickly grew on me and I swear I ended up highlighting half the book. Love to see the growth in the main characters and the love emerging through the chaos. Twisted and weird, but we all are a little. The spice was flaming hot, and I cried a ton - both these emotions are my fave combination for book reactions. Excited to read more books by this author!

Check Triggers

Wow this one took a ride, heavy into use-not one in particular and there is at least 2 incidents of OD so check triggers. This was intense, it took a look into addicts world and is not shy about the underline reasons for use, yes some to just enjoy and the most is to escape. This was dark and loved it!

Kid's Story filled with humor, love & pain - both emotional & physical. The way Jescie writes this story is AMAZING!!! I thought nothing would ever top That Sik Love - but I was wrong!! This Book gives a true glimpse into the life of an addict & the struggles. This is my #2 Favorite - TSL is still my #1

I listened to the audio of this book and could not stop listening to it.

KID and Johanna have such a heartbreakingly beautiful story.

Jesice once again wrote and amazing story and really captures such sensitive subjects in such a beautiful way.

You see both KID and Johanna struggling to find themselves, threw depression, hatred for themselves, and addiction.

Seeing these two dive into each other and helping each other grow was beautiful.

Please bring the tissues because I ugly cried

Wow, just raw , gut wrenching but so beautiful.
Joe Arden in the audiobook, he absolutely nailed it.

This was such a heavy book, I knew I’d love it when Kid was introduced in Hawke.

Such a beautiful story. Kai and Han come together to heal their own demons. Love this so much

4.5 ⭐️ Never read a dark romance quite like this - it was beautiful in the darkest way. Jescie Hall has a god-given talent for writing the most heart wrenching and gut twisting stories, filled with tortured and misunderstood souls that just want to love and be loved but are scarred and scared.

I never thought I could enjoy a romance book about two addicts as much as I did. Having the majority of the book told from Kai’s perspective was such a great choice - it helped the reader connect with and root for him, as well as Johanna.

From page one, I was hooked. Kid is the very definition of chaos wrapped in leather and lit on fire. Unfiltered, raw, and barely hanging on—until Han crashes into his world like a beautiful, unhinged hurricane.

Their chemistry? Instant combustion. Han is just as reckless, just as intense, and just as gone as Kid—maybe even more so. She doesn’t try to fix him. She mirrors him. And somehow, in being unapologetically herself, she drags him out of his spiral and makes him feel again.

This isn’t your neatly tied-up, happily-ever-after kind of love. It’s jagged. It’s messy. It’s heartbreak and healing wrapped in scenes that made me want to scream, swoon, and throw my Kindle across the room. I did not see that ending coming. My chest still hurts.

Also, shoutout to the taxidermy for being an unexpected lifeline. No notes.

If you want a story that digs its claws into you and doesn’t let go—Kid is it.
