dark

This stalker romance definitely ended in more of a Stockholm syndrome ending than an actual romantic ending. It wasn’t the worst, but it definitely wasn’t my favorite either.

Synopsis
MMC Cade is a tattooed ride maintenance worker at a traveling carnival who has a dark past. After setting up in a small town, he explores the community and is instantly drawn to a waitress in a diner.

FMC Lily comes from very humble beginnings. Cade becomes increasingly obsessed with her and while she fears him...she is also attracted.

Review
I give lots of concessions to dark romance characters because they are fictional but Cade completely blurs the line between a morally grey character and a completely abusive partner. Typical when MMC's are problematically possessive and obsessed, their actions are still swoony but the amount of force by this MMC misses the mark.

Also, some of the scenes were so unrealistic that they were just absurd, like climaxing several times in a row in quick succession by both the FMC and MMC. Yes this is fiction but I would prefer my fiction with at least some realness.

“I ducking love it when you tell me to stop, angel.”

Synopsis:
Under the neon lights and haunting melodies, Cade’s eyes found mine—piercing, intense, sending shivers through my soul. He was a dark storm, a looming shadow over my every move.

Cade’s obsession was relentless, his desire a madness that knew no bounds. Like a predator, he stalked me, every step a calculated move in his sinister dance. I tried to resist, but his twisted charm was a siren’s song, pulling me deeper into his carnival of nightmares.

Reality blurred into illusion, and I found myself ensnared in a sinister game, where every shadow whispered secrets and every smile hid a threat. In Willow Creek’s heart, where nightmares walked freely and darkness reigned, I faced a chilling truth: in a stalker’s eyes, love and obsession are one.

As the carnival lights dim and darkness falls, I stand at a crossroads. Will I succumb to Cade’s dangerous embrace, or will I fight to break free from his deadly grip?

Review:
I had a bit of a harder time with this novel. First off, please read the triggers before reading this as there were some I thought I would be okay with but they ended up giving me the ick.

I have some mixed emotions about Cade and Lilys relationship. I mean there are times when Cade is genuinely nice to Lily but then there are times where I’m terrified for Lilys well being.

The spice was definitely there with this story. And let me tell you, it definitely was descriptive.
