I loved this book. A little more emotional for a mystery than I am use to. I cried through the first three chapters and felt connected to the characters. Very well written. I typically do not like books where the murderer is blatently obvious, but this one was done in such away that you understood why no one connected the dots. Even though I was sure I knew who was guilty, I found myself questioning it several times until the end. I will be looking for more books in this series.

Nice overview of Shirley's career, marriages and family life. Throughout the book, Shirley tries to change the motherly, virtuously image by sharing her sexual accomplishments. Memoirs are the place for being honest and sharing stories, but on the sex front I felt Shirley went a little too far. I do applaud and admire how she figured out a way to keep at her career and still be a full time mom at the same time.

This book is brutal. BRUTAL. Beautiful, devastatingly poetic, layered thick with meaning. Riveting but also heartbreaking. Difficult but like a really genius piece of music that makes you feel it deep every time, so you have to be strategic about when you ingest it. Puts you in your FEELS. Highly recommend this title (even with all that emotional baggage).

For fans of making life's difficulties poetic. For people who walk down the street to an imaginary soundtrack.

Salvage the Bones was another Literati club selection (February), so I moved a bit out of my comfort zone (that's been happening a lot lately, I'm a fan). This won awards. Not just awards but AWARDS (#NationalBookAward holla!). Trigger warning!

I originally saw this book on goodreads. I read some of the review and decided to give the series a try. And I love it! I give the book 5 stars not because it's a perfect book, but because my enjoyment was so high.

The warnings that some reviews gave were basically for a confusing beginning, where the author drops you into the action without much of an explanation and starts throwing plot (and a pile of new words and exotic names) at you. In this, it did remind me of the Malazan Book of Fallen, as some other reviews had alluded to (another series that I enjoyed very much). Erikson (and Esselmont) taught me the patience needed to trust the author - if you don't quite understand that word yet, or what exactly is going on, trust the author. Sometimes the author will let you down and the novel is simply poorly written but that is not the case here.

What impressed me the most was the setting - is is absolutely incredible, and very original. From the Seethe to the way dragons are imagined, from the Avan to Humans, and all the incredible history of the world, I am waiting on pins and needles to find out more.

I am very excited to read the next novel. I can't wait to see what is in store for me in this beautifully imagined, exotic world. Indris is just the type of character I love - a powerful character who knows that he is powerful (though might not grasp how powerful he actually is).

Not an easy read (too many new words and concepts), but a very enjoyable one!

Okay so that was my first graphic novel ever and I gotta say I'm pretty impressed.

The art is definitely beautiful. At some points I just kept staring at it. It's simply stunning. And the storyline is pretty good too. It had a fast pace and totally unique.

I am still a bit confused but that could be the whole new graphic novel experience thing. I'm sure it will all clear up once I get the rest of the novels.

Received this book from Netgalley without knowing much about the Author and no expectations really, just picked it up and let the characters and the story speak to me and it was a beautiful journey.

All the characters specially Abby are these kind of characters hard to forget because how human they feel and how people can relate to some of the situations they go through. A well-written story, fast paced for me, told from different perspectives, we can see a lot of each characters, well developed, they felt real and believable.

A story about life, friendship, love, struggle and dealing with the past. Where We Fall, a book I totally recommend and cant wait to read more about this Author.

Thank you Lake Union Publishing and Netgalley for sending a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Absolutely delightful. Clever, insightful, and full of heart... AND has one of my favorite nonbinary characters I've read to date.
