Solid dystopia book
The thing that interested me most was how Butler approaches the role of religion in surviving dystopia, not so much the world itself and how it got to be that way (which wasn't discussed as much as one would expect)
Bit bare minimum but I did appreciate that this book takes gender and race into account in building its dystopia
Butler's writing style is nice and direct (which I really liked because it made it easier to read)

If you like stuff that’s eerie and feels like it hits a little too close to home, then this book is for you. This book kinda feels similar to The Hunger Games and other dystopian series, but it’s so much more realistic. It actually directly parallels some of the things that are currently happening in politics to the point where I think Octavia Butler must have had some sort of spiritual ability to see into the future. How she predicted thing so accurately is beyond me.

This book is raw, real, and honestly a little bit scary because of how much it mirrors the current moment. Another book that I would consider a must read for anyone who reads.
