Took me awhile to get into this book but when I did, I loved it!

Absolutely breathtaking. It took me a little bit to get into the writing style but once I got involved in the story I was completely sucked in.

This author writes the best books with the worst endings.

There are languages without words and violence is one of them

This was a lot more bloody and gruesome than I expected. I would only recommend this if you can handle animal violence and death.

This was an excellent book. About a wildlife biologist leading a team to re-introduce wolves to Scotland -re-wilding. The local farmers are hostile as they don’t want to lose their livestock to the predators. But they don’t realize that the “re-wilding” benefits the entire ecosystem, improving the grazing conditions for their livestock. This has been proven in Yellowstone Park.

The author is an eloquent writer who weaves a complex tale about our connections to nature and to each other and about the plight of our world. Well worth the read and I look forward to her next book

"“All creatures know love, Dad used to say. All creatures.”

Wow. There was so much in this story, some of it really good, and some of it just too much for me to truly enjoy the reading experience. It is without a doubt exceptional writing as I expect from anything that McConaghy. Her writing is gripping and evocative and pulls you in despite the topics that she shines a light on.

Inti and Aggie are twins who were raised by polar opposite parents and who spent most of their childhood and adolescence in the wild with their father. The story is told from Inti's perspective, who has a condition where she feels the pain of any creature she is looking at. She is helping to restore wolves to a dying ecosystem, while meeting resistance from the people of the area. Some events unfold that cause death and pain to some of the characters.

There is so much darkness in this story and a lot of violence against women which was the part that made it the most difficult for me to truly enjoy the story. I understand why McConaghy made the decisions she did, they worked for the story but it was not an easy task to read it.
