Really enjoyed this one. Read it in two sittings the same day, which could have easily been one, if supper didn't interfere. As per regular CoHo novels, this one was a tearjerker. I enjoy that her novels are basically romance novels, but she integrates complex issues into them to give them depth- and complicated heartbreak.
This one was on a woman who accidentally killed her boyfriend in a car accident and had to give her unborn baby up to his parents and then her attempt to be a part of her daughter's life. The theme of reconciliation is so complicated and fraught with emotion it is a difficult one to navigate; but empathy is a super important trait for people to move forward, so really more effort needs to be spent here. The book did pretty well to give the topic its due. A couple points could have been elaborated to make their impact hit home sooner. And then the only other minor point was that kind of randomly Kenna points out Ledger's equity hiring goodness, which seemed like a token, let's point out all races are good, versus actually giving minorities voices to the effect that it actually made it worse to point out how minor the racialized character roles were in the book.

I really liked this book! The concept was really sad but it was very well written. I loved the characters in this book :)
This book was everything to me, I loved figuring out how I felt about Kenna through Kenna and I LOVED Ledger. Ledger is a top tier male character and I would take a million bullets for him. Something about this story wrecked me and moved me so deeply. Mother/daughter stories are heartbreaking for me so I cried a lot. I don’t know what else to say other than I loved this book with my whole heart and now no other book will compare… this will forever be my favorite book by Colleen Hoover!!!!

“Are you gonna live in your sadness or are you gonna die in it” (Hoover 89).
I wasn’t expecting this story and while it’s still a sad love story, it’s not typical Colleen Hoover.
Kenna was such a different character and her grief felt so incredibly real. The character relationships were wonderful and the idea of learning about Scotty through letters was something I didn’t know I needed. What a huge lesson of empathy and forgiveness.

4.5.
“Talvez não importe se algo é uma coincidência ou um sinal. Talvez a melhor maneira de lidar com a perda das pessoas que amamos seja encontrá-las em tantos lugares e coisas quanto pudermos. E na chance remota de que as pessoas que perdemos ainda possam nos ouvir de alguma forma, talvez nunca devêssemos parar de falar com elas.”

This book was so good. I think that the story is tough to read for any mom. You have two different perspectives to look out of the moment and the grandma. It is a heartbreaking story, but so good.

what am amazing read. i decided i’ve outgrown the CoHo genre but just when i think i have i read an amazing book like reminders of him. different than her usual plot with romance being at the center of it…. but rather love and emphasis on family and relationships with romance being a side theme. definitely a good read! would recommend. the plot has you hooked from the beginning to end. i couldn’t put it down and finished in two days!! :)
