I started to read this series years ago and at the time had read all of the books, the rest of the series got away from me, however i never forgot this author and have always intended to get back to the series. You do not need to read the rest of the series to read this one, but you will not be able to help yourself when you get started with this authors work.

This novella is fast paced and you cannot help but get wept up into the story and when the end comes, it feels far too soon.

Olivia and Sebastian seem to have something from the moment that they meet, especially when in from of everyone shy Olivia calls the Djinn a dimwit.

We do get surprise characters from other boos, but the story mainly focuses on the fledgling beginning of Olivia and Sebastian as they navigate betrayal and a relationship together while doing work on a remote island.

Cannot wait to read more from this series.

I really enjoyed this one. Sebastian and Olivia were a wonderful couple. Just wish it could have been longer.

Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No

Short but extremely hot, intense and just plain awesome. I love the little novella's that Thea Harrison gifts us with between full length novels. Just LOVE them and this one was no exception. Sebastian was hot as hell and Olivia was sweet and endearing. Glad to see them find their HEA. Hope to get to see them in future stories.

~ 5 The Wicked Stars ~

The Wicked is a novella #5.5 in the Elder Races series. This novella gives you a wonderful taste of the world and supernatural creatures.

Olivia is a witch and librarian, so her life is not full of adventure. She plans to change that, but she did not expect it to be so changed. Sebastian is a Wyr and has lived a life of adventure through his security company. He is taking on one last task and avoiding what happened on his last gig. These two made a perfect couple. They fit and helped each other out when it was needed. The relationship builds at a pace that works for them and left me satisfied.

I love this series, especially the novellas. I have been re-reading my favorites and The Wicked is one of them. I just love that we get a little snippet of Grace and Khalil. These two are one of my favorite couples in this series and it was nice to have a peek into there lives again. Khalil’s daughter Phaedra makes an appearance and ttys to make an effort to work with others, proving that she is not as unstable as most believe her to be.

The Wicked is full of danger, intrigue, betrayal, and love. I highly recommend picking up the Elder Races series.

Enjoyable novella from the Elder Races world. Recommended.

Ahh insta-lust/love. My arch nemesis.

There's a slightly guilty part of me that simply adores the sheer alpha-maleness of the Elder Races series, that part is quickly silenced within a few chapters as the squeemishness quickly takes over.

That said, I have a massive kink for the socially awkward librarian/wallflower who gets thrown into an adventure and falls in love with the dashing adventurer trope. Romancing the Stone anyone?

3.5 stars

This novella was my first foray into not only this amazing world that Thea Harrison has created but also her writing style, I must say I enjoyed and and definitely want to delve into more of both.

Another insta-relationship novella style, but I really enjoyed it.

I love Olivia's snark & spunk. She managed to score a spot on the team assigned to retrieve Carling's book from the island. Julius has blocked her on getting them herself. So, she's hired Sebastian's security firm to protect the retreival & the team.

Khalil arranged for Phaedra to guard the crossover for the team ... and the team. Olivia got a chance to meet P at Grace's while visiting before the departure. P is still adjusting to life ... and she really doesn't deal well with others yet.

P has an encounter with Julius ... which makes me think their headed for a relationship in a future book. THAT should be interesting.

At first glance, both Olivia & Sebastian are taken with each other ... and rapidly head towards mating :) ... Dealing with the mission, and the fall-out of things going badly ... I really enjoyed this short story. The ending with Grace helping with Sebastian's curse was hysterical ... I love that Oracle!
