The whole short H thing wasn't working for me so in my head I just thought of him as tall and with a little bit of denial thrown in it worked. Also had a little difficulty with the owl thing...they're chubby and cuddly. least in my head. Yet I managed to overcome these deep seated prejudices. Good short read.

Project Elder Races Novella Read-a-thon

After write novellas for the Mysterious Tarot Deck arc (which some I love, some I don't), Thea Harrison continue to write more Elder Races novella with The Wicked. Some readers maybe will know Olivia from Oracle's Moon (which, in shame I don't remember her) and if you love Oracle's Moon, you will meet Grace and Khalil. Also Phaedra, Khalil's tortured daughter have some roles here. The story continued both from Oracle's Moon and Serpent's Kiss, in which Carling Severan must reside her magic librarian, and Olivia is part of the team that responsible for that. She will meet her significant other, Sebastian Hale, an eagle-owl Wyr with a curse of his own. Sparks fly and their attraction growing strong, but aside from Sebastian's curse, there is something malice that slowly crept and will endanger the mission.

Thea Harrison provide herself that even just novella, she still can give readers a satisfying read. Love both Olivia and Sebastian. Especially Sebastian, I like that he's not freaking tall. What with PNR and heroes that must 6 feet and more tall, or gigantic. Sebastian's height just average, but do that make him less alpha? Of course not! What he lack in height, he make it into his stance, his attitude and his respect to Olivia. Their relationship also not too rushed (even some insta-lust happen) and sweet. The conclusion of Sebastian's curse also handled well.

This novella can be read as stand alone, but readers will get a glimpse of some favorite old characters. If you are Elder Races fans, you will not want to miss this one.

This was a good short, meaning it was a real story with good characters, a beginning a middle and an end. Not all short stories manage that. It would have made a really good full book but it was good as is.

Very good storyline and the supporting character of Phaedra, Djinn daughter of the Oracle's mate Kahlil, was great. I would definitely like to see her book. Some of the action was too coincidental for me but I blame that on the novella aspect. Really good short, I read through in one sitting.

Too short ...

Read this before work this morning (it's that short).

A lovely tale which also has Khalil (a personal favourite). The main problem with short novellas (practically a short story) is that there is little time for plot or character development so I have no real understanding of why [blank] did [blank]. I suppose greedy me wanted this to be a full-length novel with sub-plots, more dialogue (love Ms Harrison's dialogue) and especially more Khalil.

Looking forward to Kinked.

Elder Races 5.5

Librarian Olivia Sutton has been chosen to join a group that will be moving Carling's library off the island. Security head Sebastian Hale has the job of keeping all the team safe.

Talk about sparks flying! The pain Sebastian is experiencing due to a curse from a previous job is horrendous, but Olivia is definitely making things better. There is a lot contained in this short story. A novella that gives us a happy ending for Grace's friend as well as more insight into how Phaedra is adjusting to freedom. I can't wait for Phaedra's story. 4.5 out of 5.

Loved Olivia! Go librarians! And boo Julian, he was again awful in this book! Can't wait to read more!
