I enjoy LP and his partner, Joe. The series I believe is thought out well and can be enjoyed on their own as well as a series as intended. I did not enjoy the second, however, as much as the first. Although when you fall in love with a book I do believe it is hard for the author to amaze you further. I still enjoyed it and once I read the third book in the series I'm enjoying it more and more.

Sorrow's Anthem earned three stars for building a suspenseful ending that made pages turn faster at the end of the book, a decent plot idea and a good name. It didn't earn more stars because the main character showed no patience and came across as an unwise bully at times. This is early Koryta and it doesn't compare to some of his excellent later works.

Not bad. A bit far fetched with the number of houses being burned down in a neighborhood in a night. The plot was good. Liked the characters. Story starts out small with Lincoln looking into Ed’s death only to find a tangle of police corruption and secrets from his past.

This is the second book in the Lincoln Perry series by Koryta.

When PI Lincoln Perry learns that his childhood buddy he hasn't seen in eight years is wanted for arson and murder, Perry sets out to find his friend, Ed Gradduck, and do what he can to help him. But Ed is killed in an accident and Perry is left with a lot of baggage over their broken friendship and refuses to believe his buddy was a murderer. Perry decides to investigate the fire and murder in hopes of clearing Ed's name, despite reservations by Perry's partner, retired cop, Joe Pritchard.
