god the way I SOBBED at the end (much like I must have the first time I read this at like 12/13). This book is so much darker than the first two (which it should be) which was difficult to get through at times even though I knew what was coming, but certain lines are so powerful and are sticking with me in ways I never would have anticipated.

Again, book three surpassed my expectations completely!! It was the one I’ve been most hooked on so far - just having to read more and more and more of it, not being able to put it down.

Don’t get me wrong, there were many bits of it that annoyed or repulsed me, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless! The next section will contain spoilers, so don’t read more if you haven’t read it!

The bit that has currently stuck most with me though, is Katniss’ agreement on there being a final games for the capitol children. This felt like completely the wrong thing to happen, and also felt like a completely betrayal. It was a very small point in the book, right at the end, and is somewhat overlooked by the author - but seeing that Katniss has been part of the games twice, and rightfully stood against it’s barbarism, her agreeing to it felt so wrong and alien. I’m also annoyed with how quickly it was wrapped up - as it felt like there was a lot built into the ending that needed unpacking more, and which wasn’t.

I also found the ending and the splitting of the rebels and the Capitol very confusing and like that wasn’t explored properly. I still don’t understand what happened there, with Snow and Coin, and why coin decided to detonate the bombs and blow up the rebel medics. I suppose it just shows the blurring of lines, and that there isn’t a black and white ‘good and evil’ in the world.

I absolutely loved it though, ans it felt very good to be reading so much again, so I thank it for that!!

I don't care what anyone thinks, that was the perfect ending for Katniss. She finally felt comfortable enough to have children. Yeah they still have PTSD of course it's not all perfect or else Gale would be the dead one not Finnick. From the first line of book 1 Prim was destined to die, no matter what Katniss did war and Gale the war criminal sealed her fate.

Literally typing this through tears but this series is amazing. I loved getting to rediscover it. I feel unbelievably hollow after all the deaths. I knew they were coming but I still cried. I love these books so much.

This is definitely my least favorite book of the trilogy, but it's still a great read.

There's not much I have to say, but if you've gotten this far in the series you can go into this book knowing that all of the plot points and character relationships will be resolved - for better or worse.

I think this book series is genuinely one of the best YA book series of the 2000s, and I will always stand by that. It is so honest about the atrocities of war, about capitalism, about fame, about the government, about PTSD, about all these things that affect our lives. This is a true reflection of today's world, and I think it's interesting to read it with our real world and history in mind.

But aside from the clear commentary within this book series, what also makes this series incredible is that there is so much heart in it. You truly fall in love with the characters, you enjoy their interactions, you feel for their struggles. This is truly one of the few instances where I read a book, and I felt so connected to the characters that I started tearing up when I realized I was nearing the end of the story. Mockingjay was a bittersweet ending to this book series. It wasn't this perfect happy ending, but it wrapped everything up well, and more importantly, it was realistic. I wouldn't have had it any other way.
