descriptionThis cover is SMOKIN' HOT. Honestly, who cares about the rest. That said it is also a fabulous representation of the hero. Has great composition and interesting title work.description

"Note to self, see if Livia is willing to play Sexy Librarian after we play Find the Nightstick."

description I am conflicted over this one. I enjoyed it hence the 4-Stars, but I struggled with the set up a bit. Especially for the first half of the book. I didn't find it particularly romantic. Especially a hero that can be OK with
Spoilersigning away his rights to his own child without even giving it more than five minutes of consideration.
I mean it's a human life we are talking about not a goldfish! I think a decent human being would at least have considered it for more than the five minutes he did. It pretty much sat in the back of my mind for the entire book. I also got tired of the constant reminders of his manwhore ways. I've said this before, but I am a smart person. You tell me he is a manwhore ONCE I can retain that info through the entire book. I do not need to be constantly hit over the head with reminders. I get it, he is known by EVERYONE as officer "GOOD TIMES" I didn't need that repeated to me over and over again. For ME as a reader that hinders my ability to form a connection with the hero/heroine. Particularly when I was already having trouble feeling anything more than a sexual relationship between these two because of the way the plot was set up.

NOW, having said that the book did have a lot of good going for it as well. It was fantastically well written. You would never be able to guess there were two different authors writing it. The pace was fairly good. Some parts felt a little slow, but nothing that led to me feeling the need to skim. The sex scenes were plentiful and smokin' hot. There was no OW/OM drama, and I didn't find it particularly drama-filled. There was some very amusing laugh out loud moments and two (for the most part) likable main characters. I would have liked to have seen more depth to Livia's character or more background depth I guess. She swears off men but her reasons for doing so seem a bit vague and a bit over the top for the info we are given. Chases' reasons for being the way he was were more understandable. Lastly, it's all wrapped up with a pretty sweet epilogue one year on.

So a little bit of a mixed bag but in the end, the good did outweigh the annoying so two thumbs up from yours truly.description

3.5 Stars

Super hot and well-written. A great blend of humor and sexy from two of my favorite authors.

I really liked Livia. She's intelligent, independent and a total bookworm. What's not to love?!? She knows what she wants, and what she doesn't want and isn't afraid to go after it, no matter what the circumstances.

Unfortunately, I didn't connect with Chase very well. I was actually pretty turned off by his response to Livia's proposition and the sort of flippant attitude that came across from him a majority of the book. Sadly, I just didn't fall in love with him the way I normally fall in love with Laurelin and Sierra's men, which made it difficult for me to fall in love with him and Livia as a couple.

The plot was a little predictable but filled with just the right amount of sweet moments, extreme heat and the perfect touch of humor to keep me reading.

Although this wasn't my favorite, I have no doubt that fans of both of these authors will enjoy this story and fall in love with Chase and Livia.

4.5 delightfully naughty stars

This might be one of the more adorable books I’ve read recently. I started the book thinking most adorable, but then came a trope that trips me up in most novels, but I got over it eventually. The heroine Livia annoyed me at times with her pigheaded ideas, but I also understood her, because eerily enough, she’s basically me in many ways. Except for certain things she wants.

Anyway. Now I just need to find me a Chase Kelly. Because oh my, Officer Kelly is sheer perfection in a hero. Some might say he’s too perfect, but that is kind of the point. For reasons. Seriously, RIP my ovaries coz they’re in smithereens because of him. He’s a bearded tattooed dreamboat hot cop, feminist lady killer, and an honest to God nerd!

That’s yet another thing I loved about this book, all the little Kansas City references and tidbits; it had me getting super nostalgic for my old home. Plenty of books wax poetic about very big cities and very small towns, but very rarely do you see so much love for small-big cities in the Midwest. You can tell the author hailing from there has a lot to do with it. Overall this was a very fun book reading experience!

It is indeed possible for a book to simultaneously tug on my heartstrings while also being steamy as all get out. This book is proof.
