The hummingbird flew down like a tiny god, to the back deck of our house. Some fairyland version, glowing phosphorescent in a cascade of emerald, sapphire and hot pink.
Gradually gets better the further into the book you get. A bleak but not entirely nihilistic take on climate change - there's a kind of malaise that makes it clear this book was written in 2020-ish. I really liked the protagonist
