The first half of the book was SO good. I know it's probably silly but it's been so long since I've read a book with so many interactions between the main characters and I loved it. I thought it was very adorable, how they couldn't stay away from each other. I adored the whole poem thing, especially the part at the end. It was a fun, enjoyable read.
I hesitated a lot between a 3 and a 4 for my rating but if I had to rate my enjoyment it would be a 4 despite some of the issues I had with the plot around the end where it felt a bit confusing and dragged on.

My romance reading orgy continued with the second installment of Julia Quinn's "Splendid" trilogy.
And all I have to say is...WHAT THE HELL MS. QUINN!?!
Belle and John are the two most ridiculously stupid and overdramatic characters I have ever had the sorry misfortune to read about. John is moody and selfish, while being the largest puss-filled pimple on the butt cheek of Regency romances. And Belle? She is simply a thousand times worse: shrill and nonsensical (despite being called intelligent four million times in the course of the novel) and overly-emotional, not to mention recklessly indifferent to everyone else's feelings in the novel, except hers. I really wish she could be magically transported to a busy New York City street and ran over with a bus.
I have called it quits on finishing the Splendid trilogy despite my newfound knowledge of checking library books out with my Overdrive app. No technological triumph is worth finishing this series. Do yourself a favor and skip this book.
