This book conveys the philosophical line of thinking that in the realm of philanthropy, we have the largest responsibility to the future since there's a potential for the most number of humans in potentially the time of greatest human flourishing. Mostly it discusses the potential threats to this amazing future.

A book about “existential risk” to humanity by an author loosely related to the Effective Alturism movement. I read it as part of an EA book club. It’s all a bit too speculative to take seriously. Someone who thinks they’re smart trying to put probabilities on the way humanity will end. You’ll never guess what a technocrat bro thinks is the greatest threat - General Artificial Intelligence of course! It’s like these sorts of ‘big thinkers’ have blinders and can only see what they know well. Cute but I have to step up my statistics knowledge to grasp the details. Gist of it is we should consider existential risk /risk factors

Urgent and profoundly inspiring. Should be a must-read for all students before starting university/college.

4.5 stars. Thorough, precise and accessible. Frightening yet inspiring. A great introduction to existential risk and longtermism.
