What starts as a failed bank robbery turns into a funny, heartfelt story about flawed people finding connection in their chaos. It’s slow and quirky. Confusing and annoying. This is my third book by this author and I’m confused at the start of each one. If you can make it through the multiple characters and timelines it’s worth it in the end! I enjoyed the mix of humor with heartbreak. I enjoyed the characters with all of their flaws. Their anxiety was relatable and it left me thinking about it long after the last page.

This book had so many emotions going through me while I was reading it. It's a tearjerker but it's also funny and oh so witty! There was action deep emotional character development some very thought-provoking moments and a cast full of complex and versatile characters.

One of the things I really love about this book is that at the start of it it's an open house and during the open house a robber comes in and holds them hostage at gunpoint. After this is over they all get interviewed by the police and you get the police transcript of interviews that are threaded throughout this book that really help move the story along.

I really like how you're getting the hostages perspective as well as the cops investigating weaving in the interviews with the characters and how they are coping with the aftermath of this experience was really really well done.

Like any of his books that I've read before he has such a wonderful way of capturing the human essence. Fredrik Backman will always be an author I recommend that everyone should read at least some point and I would definitely recommend this book.

This book was not what I expected in the slightest. There were so many twists and turns and some of the most beautiful writing I have experienced in a while. Wonderfully discusses grief, loneliness, family dynamics, and more. Some characters and moments felt slightly cliched, but otherwise a fantastic book that I really recommend.
