I couldn’t get here fast enough to give this one five stars. It felt chaotic but just the right amount—chaotic good. Every character was charming in some way and I laughed out loud several times.

writing is absolutely amazing, but i think some parts were confusing only because when there is so many characters to distinguish from, and only had very distinguishable stories and features towards the end, so i will have to re-read at some point. some characters had similar traits which took me out of the book a bit. but honestly the prose is always spectacular from fredrik backman, and a lot of moments were very teachable and heartfelt and i loved them. related maybe a little too much
I liked the caper vibe—charming and never left me confused despite the number of characters, changing writing styles, and hopping around in time.

To everyone who had to listen to my complaints when I first started this book: I’m so sorry, I take it all back! I had a hard time getting used to Backman’s writing style at first. I found it to be repetitive and thought it slowed the plot. However, I came to appreciate the style the longer I read. This book had a surprising amount of twists that I did not see coming. One of these twists changed my entire perspective of the book! I almost felt as if I immediately had to start over and read the book from the beginning with my new knowledge. In conclusion, even though this book had a slow start for me, it was a good read and I loved the ending.
