The beginning and end were good but the middle was kind of slow for me. I liked the messages in the book but sometimes felt it was trying too hard to be profound. I did like that the messages and sentiments of a lot of the characters were relatable. The writing style was interesting and I enjoyed the twists and turns.

DID NOT FINISH: 31%

I started off really enjoying this book. The author is really witty and had me laughing-out-loud a few times. But then it got insufferable and annoying because all the characters are always angry and reply to each other rudely, it got annoying.

The tone of the book is negative and constantly complaining about things: about caffeine-free coffee, gluten-free bread. I mean what the hell? All the complaining and viewing things so negatively made me feel really depressed and I couldn’t keep reading it.

It feels like the author tries too hard to be witty, but in smaller doses I would have found it tolerable. I think that I just don’t enjoy contemporary fiction as it’s mostly negative and people complaining about everything and I just can’t relate. This kind of an attitude really brings me down. I like to try to find the good in everything, even if sometimes that can be hard to find.

Wow. This one was touching.

There were so many characters but they were all written in such a unique way that I could easily keep track of them all. I love when a fiction book helps you learn something about the human condition, and this book was full of that. I definitely chocked up a few times.

我可能是少有的先读完[b:My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry|23604559|My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry|Fredrik Backman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1461904020l/23604559._SX50_.jpg|25003015]再来读这本书的。对比之下更习惯外婆一书,但更多的是因为从小老一辈带着我长大能共情,成人童话的类型也更戳我。作为2020 Choice Awards,我确实也更喜欢[b:The Midnight Library|52578297|The Midnight Library|Matt Haig|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1602190253l/52578297._SY75_.jpg|74043794]。
