Is it wrong for a gory murder book to make you laugh? There's blood, gore and comedy galore in this adventure - second to Ragdoll and with characters other than Wolf at its centre.

It's one of the most entertaining tours of New York I've ever done that's for sure! The plot may be something off a theatre stage but it's entertaining if not a bit surreal. The incident with the spider - OMG now that was funny.

Baxter is a great character and it was a treat to get to know her and have her at the centre of the case. A bizarre case of Bait and Puppet being carved into the chests of victims. I did almost pass out on one occasion but I forgive Daniel Cole if for nothing else than that last line.

I wonder which nice childhood memory Daniel is going to warp for book three!Haha I will be there!

I liked the first one better to be honest.

This one just seemed a bit too unrealistic at times, and the plot was a bit "all over the place".

Still enjoying the main characters, though there's some new secondary characters introduced who stayed a bit grey and undefined. It also didn't seem like the main characters grew much from the start of book one to the end of book two - a bit more development would have been nice (even if it had went the wrong way).

Still entertaining, but I won't follow the series farther.

I had really high hopes for this book as Ragdoll was one of my favourite books of last year. It took me a chapter to get into the story but after that it didn't disappoint.

In my review of Ragdoll I wondered how they were going to continue after the conclusion of that book and the answer was to focus on Emily Baxter. William Fawkes is barely mentioned throughout and so we have a whole new cast of characters as the book flips between London & New York.

We have crazed killers, mysterious cult leaders and a lot of buildings being blown up. I'm never happier as a reader than when the author throws the whole kitchen sink into the story. As long as the end ties everything up the more outlandish the story the better. And I was not disappointed.

It's a real roller-coaster and although the twist when it came was a bit obvious and had been foreshadowed earlier I still enjoyed it and looked forward to where the reveal would take me.

Definitely emerging as one of my new favourite authors. I really enjoyed this and would recommend.
