Better than expected. Contrasting Eastern philosophy vs. fascism. Various intertwined storylines. People live in a hopeless world divided between Japan and Nazi Germany, a popular book is an alternative history in which Japan and Germany lose WWII (but different from ours). Like a lot of his stories a major theme is to question what is real and what is not. As usual his descriptions of scenes are well fitted for TV and movie adaptions (I'll try the TV series next to see if it is watchable).

Difficult to stomach at times, but classic "what-if?" science fiction. I want to know more about what was going through Dick's head as he wrote it.
At times, the diction and dialogue were essentially unreadable, so I would give it a 3.5 stars, if I could. Fascinating read.

the man is not in the high castle i think he’s just high
As a concept, super interesting and well done. I really like how it focuses on the impact the loss of WW2 by the allies has on art.
As an emotionally engaging story, it’s kind of there , but’s it’s very loose, and things end much too abruptly.
