Si bien no me enganché tanto con la historia, si lo encontré lo suficientemente interesante para seguir leyendo y terminarlo pese a todo, no me esperaba para nada el final
As a concept, super interesting and well done. I really like how it focuses on the impact the loss of WW2 by the allies has on art.
As an emotionally engaging story, it’s kind of there , but’s it’s very loose, and things end much too abruptly.

"That is their basic madness. They are overcome by some archetype; their egos have expanded psychotically so that they cannot tell where they begin and the godhead leaves off. It is not hubris, not pride; it is inflation of the ego to its ultimate—confusion between him who worships and that which is worshiped. Man has not eaten God; God has eaten man."
Very unique book! In short it is a revisionist history look at what the world would be like if Japan and Germany had won World War II. I say revisionist history because I does not present the world as a terribly place run by evil monstrosities; instead the Americans and English are the presented as the real enemy. The English and conquered, the Americans serve as secondary citizens under the Japanese, and the Jews are almost exterminated (though some remain in hiding).
There is a very interesting twist at the end of the book and while the fiction portion of the book is great what really jumped out at me from this book is how thoroughly the book embodies by the fact that history truly is written by the victors and history is filled with liars. It serves as a challenge to remember to not accept the details of events just because someone in power says they are true.

Originally a low 7, but I'm glad I waited cause this one is a grower. Not what I expected at all based on the premise. I was expecting an underdog rebellion story, but what I got was a slice of life from a possible future. The core of this book revolves around the I ching, and it's affect on the various characters within the novel. It's very meta, novel in a novel in a novel, and it has more depth than at first glance. Definitely a must-read, in-depth video review incoming.

This book was hard work to get through! It didn't catch me, there were too many characters, and you figured out the gist pretty quickly but then couldn't figure out where it was going. In the end, they give you a quasi-explanation, but even that doesn't make sense. Honestly, I expected more from this author.
This was a great peek into an alternative path that history may have taken. I think the most powerful and interesting factors of this book are all very relatable in this current climate we all find ourselves in - one man's ideas, regardless to the validity of those ideas or the person, can start a chain reaction that leads to a radically different belief structure for the entire world. It was both fascinating and horrifying.
