Money is fucking weird man.
A great analysis of the intricacies of privilege with intersectionality in mind. Not a simple answer.
Millie a slightly older (24, so you know my age) student who's saving up to buy a house for her and her mum is primarily the voice of reason but even she messes up and has moments where she fails to do her RA duties.
Agatha a black lesbian professor who decides to study money and also basically take advantage of/make fun of lots of teenage girls - although those teenagers are very ridiculous (the type of people who have 'fun money' and income that they literally don't need). Hearing them complain is insane (they are so unaware of their white middle class privilege), but should we be making fun of them publicly? Idk. No easy answer. Taylor is such an interesting character to see through everyone's eyes - I like that we never see her.
Kennedy is perhaps the least interesting of the main characters. A transfer student who's past public shaming makes her retreat in her room at her new uni (where she lives with Taylor). I'm not entirely sure what I'm meant to take from all of her story but I enjoyed that we got to see class and money from a white perspective too.

I really liked this book, particular the descriptions of college girls. I thought it was very well done, except for the fact that it felt much more like current-day college students than 2017’s. Idk if the point of that was to make it pre-COVID or what. I wish it had been longer in the middle, maybe with focus to Kennedy and her mom. I could honestly read a sequel about that girl But I did find the ending pretty satisfying!

This is one of the most god awful books I’ve ever read. I have no idea what Reid thought she was doing with this one. The dialogue is so atrocious and I don’t understand how considering everyone recommends her first book. I went with this one because It takes place at my college during the time I was a student. It wasn’t representative of my experience there but that was fine. It just didn’t seem representative of any student I met either. Completely missed the mark and I couldn’t suffer through another page.
