Kitabı yeni bitirdim. Yemin ederim bi sigara yakasım geldi. Aşırı dertlendim şu an. Aşırı acılı ve üzücü bir sonla bitti. Shakespeare’in en iyi trajedilerinden biri olduğunu duymuştum ama bu kadar çarpıcı olduğunu bilmiyordum.

unfortunately, this one was not for me. and i love me some billy shakes, honestly! i've never read lear, and thought maybe it was time, but i was mostly... lost. the characters were confusing, there was not much to differentiate each of the main cast from the others, and the plot seemingly felt non existent? a lot of backstabbing and secret plots and *disguise! but i'm not sure i followed this one other than.. everyone hated lear (including his daughters), (many) people wanted to usurp the throne for reasons i was unclear of, and a WHOLE lot of people *die, dramatically. not sure what to pull away from this one other than the general greed and want for power?  i did enjoy the language and cadence (as i always do with shakespeare), but unfortunately, i just was underwhelmed here.

How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is
To have a thankless child!

there were so many cutting lines i absolutely loved !!! “all dark and comfortless" pretty much sums it up. rip shakespeare you would've loved brian cox's iteration of logan roy in succession

heartbreaking luv

i fear i’m not smart enough for this

Not his best work, but certainly his most tragic. At the end there is nothing left, but before that there is a display of human emotion more grand than what any other writer has represented. Perhaps Dante has done the same in the Divine Comedy, but to a more restricted level.
