I'm beginning to like Michael Connelly. This is the second book of the Mickey Haller series. I didn't see the end coming. It's a well-written book.
This book takes place about three years after the first book in the series. Mickey came back to work too quickly, and ended up taking a year off from practicing law. Once he was clean, he was just getting back onto his feet when he had 31 cases dropped into this lap, including a high-profile murder case.

I've read other books in this series. I thought the book was okay, but I'm sure if I didn't have the background from reading the other books, I would have been totally lost.
Readable, fast paced and fun. The perfect airplane book.
Michael Connelly always writes a solid, enjoyable mystery and this was no exception.
Another superb legal thriller from Michael Connelly.
I'm really enjoying this series so far. It's action-packed and I appreciate the way the author doesn't talk down to his readers. He explains things easily and efficiently and the reader comes away with more knowledge of how the legal system works.
Mickey Haller makes his mistakes, to be sure, but ultimately he always does the right thing and he's a character that I pull for. I also enjoyed the addition of Harry Bosch in this one, an LAPD Detective that is the star of Connelly's other long-running series.
Can't wait to read more from this author!

As with Lincoln Lawyer, this novel focuses on Michael Haller a defense attorney who ends up with a big case. The story mainly revolves around his defense work at the trial.
I think Haller might be growing on me but I still prefer Bosch. :)
I read a couple of literary books that, simply put, were not satisfying. So I decided to read a Lincoln Lawyer book by Michael Connelly. I've read a number of Connelly books. Liked some better than others. This was one of the best. The LL inherits a number of clients from a lawyer who was murdered, including one high profile case. It looks like his client is guilty but through a couple of twists and turns it looks like the LL will get a not guilty verdict. In fact, it looks like the client is not guilty afterall. We get to that point in the book, a decent ride. In fact, I thought the book was all but over -- give me a conclusion and denouement. When all of a sudden, the decent ride becomes a roller coaster with many more twists and turns. Overall, a solid read.
