I read this book at the book store and bought it right away, which is not something I normally do.
It has a really fun premise, ROBOTS. I won't ruin it for you. It's an interactive book. You'll see ;)

This was a random pull from the library shelves. When we brought it home I realized we had read other Adam Rubin books before (Dragons Love Tacos, Secret Pizza Party), but this one was by far the most amazing one he has written. The cover warns you that the book will turn into a robot and it does! This is going to be my new go-to when I am buying a present (because it is almost always a book anyways) for a child in the 3-7 range. Hysterical!
More creative, anarchic, laugh-out-loud antics with author Adam Rubin and illustrator Daniel Salmieri. The ingredients in the top-secret, neon orange Robo-Sauce are fun to read aloud ("a sprig of spankenfarfle" is my favorite). The general mayhem (including a Robo-Tornado) will be a hit with anyone who craves a little noise and chaos with their picture books. I especially loved the lines, "Where did everybody go? Don't they know how much fun it is to go on a rampage?" After reading this story, everybody will know exactly how much fun it is.
gotta praise the originality on this one. definitely impressed with the twist.
but overall it felt slight and like a one-time read. or it could just not be more me.

This is one of my 5 year old son's favorite books, and it's pretty awesome. The first time we read it together, we were both blown away by how cool it was. He insisted on hearing it three more times right away. Very clever, lots of fun, highly recommended for anyone who loves robots.
Cute book about a boy pretending to be a robot. Then he discovers a sauce that can turn everything into robots. Suddenly the book becomes a robot along with the rest of the world. Very imaginative.
From the brilliant mind of Adam Rubin (of "Dragons Love Tacos" and "Those Darn Squirrels" fame), a story about a kid obsessed with robots, who gets a formula for a magical "Robo-Sauce" that will turn anyone it touches into robots . . .
This book is brilliant. (Unless you're a Doctor Who fan, in which case it's a brilliant and terrifying story of the very first Cybermen...)
Anyhow, this is one of those great books that combines the wild imagination of a kid with today's technology, adds some great fourth-wall yelling and a hands-on craft period, and finishes up being that thing you run and show your friends about, going READ IT!!!!
I'm not sure how long it's going to last in my library (alas!), but hopefully it will give every family a fun night!
