Another 13 storeys means another grand adventure and zany levels to explore. This time poor Andy get pushed aside as Terry becomes the star of the new upcoming Treehouse movie and in true Terry style lets it go to his head and he becomes a little bit mean. Because there is no need of a narrator in this film, Andy must find ways to amuse himself which involves exploring the many new rooms of the treehouse including trying to hatch the giant egg, spinning the plates in the spinning room, and scribbling some more in the scribbling room.

This is a great Andy centred adventure because while Terry is the star of the film, Andy becomes the star of the book. I loved this, it's fun and silly and hilarious in all the right places. Jill also makes an appearance, I’m always glad to see Jill get her time to shine in these stories, she’s a wonderful character.

On top of the dazzle that is a Teehouse movie, you can also expect action and adventure in this book, you can also expect rhyming rants, suspicious cows, the ever delightful Mr Big Nose, as well as lot of Andy’s. Possibly one of my favourite treehouse books, not only because the writing is funny, but despite having the same basic formula for six books now, this is still an original story that goes in directions you didn’t even know it could take. I can only imagine what another 13 storeys is going to involve but I look forward to reading about it.

Such easy reads, these books. Which is great because I'm in a bit of a reading slump at the moment. Sadly I didn't laugh at all in this one, and I've laughed out loud in the past five books so I'm a little disappointed.

Jealousy, disbelief and pride all play a big part of this book... I mean movie, honestly I didn’t enjoy it as much as the others as it was less about the new story but a lot of rehashing of previous books and the new floors felt a little like filler. It was a shame. I still had fun and there were some cool ideas in it.

Cows can’t write books and potato chips are more important than you thought.

Also, reading these books is legit making me better at my job.

Just saying

Were it not for the cows and the courtroom drama, I would have rated this book three stars. The completely artificial separation of Andy and Terry does nothing except make them act completely out of character.

OK so I went to the launch of this book in Melbourne and let me tell you I have NEVER heard such a noise from a crowd, not even at a music gig at Rod Laver arena, these guys are like GODS to the under-10 crowd. (Also, never underestimate the power of a pantomine-style "behind you!!" scenario). Everyone received a (signed) copy of the book on entry and there were so many kids with their nose in it right away. I read my copy a bit later (it is only temporarily my copy, as it is designated for a friend's daughter) and it really was lovely. There is a cow on every page! EVERY PAGE! (NB the cows have a hidden agenda, don't trust them). The blend of writing and drawing in this series is really wonderful.

It's hard to pick favourite parts of such a wonderful construction but Andy's high-security potato chip storage facility is definitely one. And the scribbletorium.

My copy: I believe I mentioned it was included as part of the ticket purchase. And my sister bought my ticket.
