I really enjoyed this book. It did such a good job of making the reader understand the stress that Stephanie felt as a single mom living in poverty. It was heavy, but also inspirational. Really made me think about how much I have and how grateful I am for the comforts my family enjoys. Some language, no spice.

I don’t always like memoirs but enjoyed this one. It’s a good look into the days of someone living in poverty and trying to build a better life. May use it for class…

Although I am not a mother the book really spoke to the silent struggles one can experience in life.  As an adult that’s almost 30 I find myself in similar exhausted mental spaces. Judging myself and hiding from others to avoid conversations of my struggles. Not wanting to be the Debbie downer in the conversation. This book was real and authentic. It left me wanting to know how her daughter turned out, if she was able to further discover happiness earned through her mother’s hard work and mental discipline.
