Guys I loved it. Everyone that said this book was good and highly recommended it was RIGHT. It was just so tight, I need to read the rest of the series immediately, I kind of can't believe the ending. Literal 10/10 book, I'm so happy I got around to it.

Man, I waited far too long to finally read some [a:Brandon Sanderson|38550|Brandon Sanderson|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1394044556p2/38550.jpg]. Mostly because I spent too long listening to his podcast instead, but that's another matter entirely.

[b:The Final Empire|68428|The Final Empire (Mistborn, #1)|Brandon Sanderson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1480717416l/68428._SY75_.jpg|66322] was a great read. The world building wasn't piled on too quickly, there was no info dump. Just a really well written story.

There's a world like ours but just different enough to make you interested. Brandon is great at that, the strange attractor. Ash falls from the sky like rain, and the land is desolate and grey. Mists come out at night, thick enough to blind you. All of this makes for a setting I find wildly attractive.

Then there are the characters. Kelsier and Vin get the spotlight and most character development. I really enjoyed getting to know both of them. But even side characters can be really fun. My one gripe was that sometimes I got side characters confused. This probably wasn't Sanderson's fault as much as it was that I was having a hard time matching Miisting/Mistborn powers to their counterpart instead of trying hard to remember their names and descriptions. By the end of the book I had it down, though.

The best thing about this first installment is that you are given questions to which you desperately want the answers. The big bad, The Lord Ruler, is a complex character that you're fed information on a chapter at a time.

This review is a bit everywhere, but I wanted to at least jot down my thoughts before work. I'll come back and add more soon. <3
