F*ck me. 

That's going to take a while to digest. 

It's like Tom Clancy, Hawking, and a Max Gladstone got high as kites and co-wrote a novel. 

It's precise where it doesn't need to be (all the military stuff) to bolster suspension of disbelief when number theory and cosmology gets mixed in with practical theology. 

Dickinson is profoundly odd in all sorts of interesting ways. He thinks deeply about what it is to be human, to make choices, to resist power when powerless.

What a strange and compelling book. I feel like I've never read a sci-fi book quite like it so I can't compare it. Except that I want more - which makes me have mixed feelings about the fact that it's not(?) a standalone. Every character is so compelling because of all of the trolley problems they are constantly facing.

Truly loved this book. Deeply bizarre, quite upsetting at points. I love and respect Seth Dickinson's ability to introduce a horrible possibility that all the characters work to try to avoid, and then to investigate what happens if that comes true. Deeply compelling relationships between characters.
