How is this the same author of the Great Alone? Ooof. These characters are so unrealistically 2 dimensional and the plot so predictable. Have I read worse? Sure. But not by much.
Every one of the characters in this book could have benefited from therapy. Instead we are led to believe that life will move forward with a happy ending which seems entirely unrealistic. As others mentioned, it felt like an overly sappy Lifetime movie. That being sad, it seemed to have enough draw that I wanted to finish the book and see where the story would go.
I read this book because of my personal experience with organ donation, and while I found this book to be very predictable, I still enjoyed reading it.
A little cliche romance novel never hurts! Not my favorite- so predictable- but good!
Like many Kristin Hannah novels, Home Again is a tear jerker. Madelaine is a heart surgeon who is struggling with parenting her sixteen year old daughter. She is also struggling with her relationship with two brothers: Francis, a priest and friend who has supported Madelaine and her daughter and Angel who disappeared 16 years earlier when Madelaine learned she was pregnant. Now Angel has returned to their lives, needing a heart transplant, and Madelaine is torn about how involved she should be. Then, something tragic occurs that shakes up all of their lives forever. This was a moving book and a story of tragedy and new beginnings. Highly recommend!
